The Common Oreo: An Investigative Report

If you recall in my blog about Red Velvet Oreos, I noted that I don't think there's really much of a difference between the different style of cookies.  I decided to conduct a blind taste test of different cookies with myself and 7 test subjects.  (Also I worked really hard on this blog so everyone better like it)
-We used 3 types of cookies- Red Velvet, Golden Chocolate, and regular.  This gave us 3 types of cookie and 3 types of cream to sample from.
-Everyone was blindfolded/ had their eyes covered.
-We each had a plate with separated cookies.  Sample one of the cookies or creme and take a guess.
-After each guess, I didn't tell the test subject if their guess was correct or incorrect.  This meant that there were a few double guesses.  For example, guessing the Red Velvet as Regular, then guessing Regular again for the real Reguilar.
-The cookie samples are listed as red cookie (Red Velvet), golden cookie (Golden Chocolate), and chocolate cookie (Regular).  The cream samples are listed as velvet cream (Red Velvet), chocolate cream (Golden Chocolate), and white cream (Regular).
-Correct guesses are listed in BLUE while incorrect guesses are listed in RED.

Seb
-GAGGED on the regular Oreo and thought it was Red Velvet, then ate the Red Velvet and said “This is good ol’ regular."  So, no, I am not surprised he got them all wrong. (That's a slight at Oreo which will be touched on later)
Red cookie (Second guessed himself on this one after testing the other two cookies, but results couldn't be changed after starting the next test)

Fred
-Is a professional cook.
-Might not have done so well if he hadn't tried all 3 immediately prior to the testing.
-Is Canadian.  I don't think that changes the results, but we can't rule anything out.

-Was the only subject who didn't smart mouth me or say "But what about?"

-Sniffed several cookies.
-Refused to sample red cookie based on the fact he already sampled the other two and was using process of elimination.

-Opened the cookie testing with a wrong guess and rolled with it, repeatedly stating he "is a gambling man."

Lizzie
-Had a cold and her sense of taste may have been compromised.
-Noted that all cookies tasted exactly the same

Here's some random observations from the testing:
Red velvet received several comments of being too sweet, bitter, sour.  Overall, it wasn't a hit with this group.
Everybody commented that the cookies taste the same.  This leads me to suspect that the cookies are purely based on food coloring and any associated flavoring is all mental.
Obviously the cream varies in the several types of Oreos, but this was a limited testing.  If we had tested the dozen or so types, I'm sure the different creams would have been easier to differentiate.
I guess I really am an Oreo connoisseur?  That's kinda cool.  Also very depressing, but still something to put on the resume.

Cookie guesses were 16/24.  Cream guesses were 17/24.  What can I tell from the results?  It's hard to say.  69% (lololol I have the maturity of a 12 year old) guessing for taste isn't exactly a good look for Oreo.  Therefore I'm going to guess the taste is mostly mental.  What you see is what you get.

PS- When my grandfather was my age he stormed the beaches at Normandy.  I’m conducting experiments about Oreo ingredients.  Real glad I have that fancy college degree.
