Snack Food Showdown: Hostess Ding Dong vs. Drake's Ring Dings

     Can you tell the difference between the two?  Pretty much the only difference in appearance is that the Ding Dong (the first one) has a flat top and the Ring Ding (second one) has a dome top.  Other than that these are exact clones of each other.  I don't know who came out first, all I care about is who tastes better.  Originality means nothing in this world of boutique chocolatiers.
     I thought this would be a fairer fight.  Well spoiler alert: Ding Dongs fucking suck.  It wasn't even close.
- Cream: Ring Ding had a much creamier cream and a higher volume.  Ding Dong was too airy and light.  There was no substance there.  It was like biting into an Easter bunny and finding out the goddamn thing is hollow.
- Cake: This was the only contest that was even kinda close.  Ring Ding was fluffier.  Ding Dong's cake wasn't bad.  But Ring Ding had more chocolate flavor to it, instead of just being a brown colored cake.
- Chocolate coating: Ring Ding by far again.  It was creamier and thicker.  Ding Dong felt like the chocolate was only there as a shell to hold the cake in.  Just a lack of effort on their part.

     And there you go.  I figured instead of standard grading I'd have a showdown.  Turned out to be a blood bath but I still enjoyed taste testing.

PS- Initially I wrote this blog about Ring Dings but then decided to do a comparison.  Here's the original draft I started before changing lanes, since I'm a nice guy.

     I used to be all over these things in elementary school.  You know what got the girls' attention back then?  Ring Dings.  Nowadays?  No idea, but definitely not mildly to moderately overweight guys blogging about snack foods.
     Anyways moving on from that depressing bit, the Ring Dings.  American classic.  If you don't like these, I don't like you.  7/10.
     Ding Dongs were one of the snacks that perished in the big Hostess collapse.  Thankfully they resumed production a few months after, leaving all those fuckwads who spent $400 on Twinkies and whatnot down about $398.50.  Dumbasses.
