During my recent trip to Lake Placid we passed a little road side cabin with a "Handmade Maple Syrup" sign. And I want it on record that for once, buying a sugary product wasn't initially my idea. It's a one room cabin with some sort of giant maple syrup machine inside. There was one table with a bunch of maple syrup making/ bottling items and one table with product on display. The owner was a super friendly guy who gave us a quick showing of what he does and gave us sample shots of warm, freshly bottled maple syrup. Of course I bought a large bottle of the one we sampled (amber color, left). I also bought a smaller bottle of another one he has on display (dark color, right).
Now that I've tried both of them I can give them both a 10/10. Are they snacks? No, but they're pure sugar so I'm calling an audible. I don't really know how to review maple syrup but they're both delicious and everyone in my car bought a bottle right after taking a shot of it.
They also sold maple candies which I forced myself to buy.
This was pretty good. It was sweet and had a bit of a crystalline consistency until it hit your tongue, when it started to melt. It didn't taste like maple syrup but is still highly recommended. 9/10.
Also if you want your own you can pick it up here: http://www.blackroostermaple.com/
