See that? It's called patriotism. The Olympics are on and I'm supporting this country I love.
Most of the party was typical celebrating as far as the blog is concerned. I wasn't even aware they had put out dessert. I turned around at one point and there was a half empty plate on our table. Is that on me for poor situational awareness or the venue for not notifying the most important snack blogger in the room? I'll leave that up to the reader(s) to decide.
There were two plates of snacks:
Cannolis* and cookies: The cannolis were great, as you can see from Dylan's expression.
The cream was sweet and soft. Nice consistency that didn't make a mess all over the place while you were eating it, but wasn't too thick. The shell was hard without being crunchy. It gave way just a little bit when you bit in but didn't lose shape. 7/10.
The cookies weren't too good. They were hard and dry. I couldn't tell if they were a butter cookie or a sugar cookie, but I was already pretty drunk at this point. 4/10. Dan did not take my advice prior to this picture:
The next plate was various puff pastries:
It's hard to tell in that photo but I believe there were three types: a mini eclair, and two smaller pastries filled with cream, one of which was chocolate coated. I think they only difference between the three was the size and the chocolate coating. I'm a sucker for pastries like these so they went down like Skittles. My complaint was they were almost too rich for me to eat a handful of them. 7/10.
* For some reason my browser doesn't recognize "cannoli" as a word so I just had to Google it to make sure I didn't have a brain fart. For the record I was right the first time.
