As I'm sure everyone knows, today is the first day of Hanukkah. חנוכה. The festival of lights. Here's a fun fact about Hanukkah: there actually was a war on it. Typical Christmas, always ripping Hanukkah.
I get a lot of questions asking about the story of Hanukkah. If you've ever seen the Rugrats Hanukkah that's pretty much all you'll need to hold your own in the two conversations you ever have about the history of Hanukkah. (The same goes for Passover, both solid synopses.)

But you're not here for a history lesson. This is a snack blog goddammit, and I'm going to blog about snacks. Today we have Hanukkah gelt. Chocolate coins. An extremely high amount of waste for some small pieces of chocolate. But it's the holiday time so Mother Nature can take a back seat.
They're chocolate coins. You know what you're getting here. The foil wrapping is a pain in the ass. But they only come around once a year so you put up with it and stuff your face with them 8 days in a row before telling yourself "Diet starts tomorrow!" 6/10
