First off let's check out the instructions:
In the fryer? What the hell is this? I'm not buying a fryer just for some goddamn churros. Toaster oven it is.
Get your ingredients together.
Preheat your toaster oven to 400F- done.
Put your churros in the oven for 7 minutes. Safety first!
After you take your churros out you can put on the crumb sugar topping.
The instructions say to roll the churros in the topping but that doesn't work too well. I suggest using a spoon to shake the topping on.
Now we can get to the review of the churros. Mainly, the reason they are called churros. What is a churro? Let's go to Wiktionary to find out.
Noun[edit]
churro (plural churros)
A fried pastry, typically eaten as a dessert and with chocolate beverage.
It's definitely something new from Oreo. I guess they've been reading my blog since I've been saying for a while now that all they do is spitball random flavors and hope something sticks. They're thinking outside the box which is good.
Anyway how did it taste? The churro itself tasted like the cookie part of the Oreo but less dense. The cream is harder to tell. Since it was sitting in a toaster oven for 7 minutes obviously it won't have the same consistency as the the cream in a cookie at room temperature. I wasn't overwhelmed, but it was still pretty good.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! The box says 20 bites. Clearly says "Approx. 20 bites." I got fucking 16 bites. Is 20% off approximate? Because if so then I'll just approximate my score for the Oreo Churros. That's almost a full serving of churros that I just didn't get. And this isn't the first time it's happened with Oreos. A few weeks ago I got box with about half a row just not packaged. So Oreo churros get a 6/10. If someone at Mondelez wants to hook me up with a box that isn't suspiciously lighter than average, I will be happy to adjust my score.
