From the looks of the box they're just your standard shortbread cookie. That's not bad, but it's a tricky thing to do well. Upon opening the box I was met with a pleasing scent of maple. If you look at the label it doesn't mention maple at all, so the maple addition was a very nice surprise.
A lot of people like going to Vermont for it's quaint charm, which is exactly what you'll get with these cookies. It's just a standard shortbread cookie but also so much more. The maple flavoring was noticeable without being overpowering. Look at the description from the company's website:
The subtle flavors of fresh Vermont creamery butter and maple blend into a unique taste of old New England. Maple Shortbreads are light and delicate enough for tea but satisfying on their own. They are a special indulgence sure to be popular with seasonal as well as regular customers.
That description tells me two things: Covered Bridge makes their cookies with the most important ingredient of all: love. Also, people still drink tea. I assumed that was just to make people feel better about themselves and tell other people they drink. But, I digress. These were some top notch cookies that only lasted about 3 days. 9/10.
